If we are to achieve results never before accomplished, we must expect to employ methods never before attempted.
- Francis Bacon
In our home we had a pantry where all of the goodies are kept. On this particular day I opened the door and almost killed myself as I stumbled over a labyrinth of boxes, books and toys arranged to create a rather sophisticated ladder. And at the top of this spire was an empty cookie jar, and in the bedroom? A tuckered out little child, with another success notched upon their belt. What is it that helped this child succeed where so many of us fail?
This may surprise you but children solve problems by a combination of trial and error and observation. They do not have the past to rely on since they have relatively no past. Unlike a child we have past experiences and while this can and should be a benefit, often referred to as "WISDOM" too often it is not. Sadly i see many well intended people trying the same things over and over because this worked for them long ago. In todays world that can be fatal. Today is not yesterday with technological advances moving at an unparalled pace and our economy moving in the exact opposite direction, we cannot expect past successful actions to yield similar results. We must look at what is going on around us, listen to what others are saying, learn from recent experiences, fail quickly and fix what we are doing in realtime, until we get to the cookie jar...
You can do incredibly big things...one step at a time!
